Matsunaga Stone

Since its establishment in 1948, Matsunaga Stone has specialised in the craft of blade maintenance. They are most famous for their King brand, which has become a staple for sharpening enthusiasts across the globe.

King whetstones are the best-selling and most often recommended Japanese soaking stones worldwide. Unlike ceramic, or "splash and go" whetstones, these stones require soaking before each use. This results in a softer stone and thicker slurry when sharpening your blade, which makes them very forgiving for beginners, and provides excellent tactile feedback. King whetstones are suitable for most sharpened blades, such as kitchen knives, planers, axes, hatchets, pruning shears and more.
