This professional-grade Japanese Oire Nomi chisel is traditionally forged in Miki City, Japan by Fujikawa. It combines traditional Japanese forging techniques with a laminated steel construction designed for demanding woodworking.

The blade features a thin layer of high-quality White Steel laminated to a softer steel main body. This traditional construction provides a durable cutting edge with excellent edge retention. The back of the blade is hollow ground, a characteristic of Japanese chisels that helps make sharpening and maintaining the cutting edge easier.

The approximately 18mm blade is hardened to over HRC 60, providing a combination of hardness, edge retention and durability.

The chisel is fitted with a traditional Japanese Red Oak handle topped with a steel hoop. The hoop is supplied unset and will need to be set before use. This allows the handle to be prepared correctly for striking with a suitable hammer or mallet.
