The Tyzacktool TYECF6991 Combination Edge and Centre Finder 3/8" is a specialized precision tool used in milling and turning operations to accurately locate and align the machine spindle's axis with specific features on a workpiece.
This tool generally consists of a main shank (in this case, 3/8" diameter) that fits into the machine spindle and an interchangeable or combined tip.
For fast accurate work location. Made from tool steel and hardened all over, they can be used on flat surfaces, straight edges, shoulders, grooves, studs, dowels, centre points and scribed lines.
Tip Diameter: .2000" & .3750"
Tool Type: Combination Edge & Centre Finder
- Edge Finding: Locating the exact edge of a workpiece. When the finder's tip is brought against a flat edge while the spindle rotates slowly, the tip will "wiggle" eccentrically until it contacts the edge, at which point the eccentric tip will suddenly "kick" or move precisely to align with the spindle axis. The center of the spindle is then offset from the workpiece edge by half the diameter of the finder's tip or ball.
- Centre Finding: Accurately locating the center of a scribed line, punch mark, or an existing hole. The pointed attachment is typically used to align the spindle directly over a reference mark.
