This drill bit is a successful combination of a spiral and an auger drill bit. The spur cutters leave a clean hole edge, while the two curved main cutting edges quickly get down to the job even at moderate pressure. Straight cutting edges enter the wood along the full width, curved cutting edges - as on this drill bit - proceed more gradually because initially they do not cut along the full width. This results in a smoother cutting surface. At the same time, the spur cutters perform the function of a chip thickness limiter. The chips do not get too thick and are uniform and you end up with a cleaner hole. Using the drill bit on convex surfaces, such as PVC pipes or bamboo rods, also works very well. Thanks to its sharp centring point the drill bit will not wander.
