An Uzukuri brush is a traditional Japanese woodworking tool used to create an uzukuri finish—a textured surface that emphasizes the natural grain of wood. Instead of cutting the wood, the stiff brush wears away the softer earlywood while leaving the harder latewood raised, producing a tactile, three-dimensional texture.
How it's used: Rub the brush firmly along the grain, never across it. Start with a coarse brush if needed, then use medium / finer brushes to refine the texture before applying oil, wax, or another finish.
